Virtual Book Launch for We Too: Essays on Sex Work and Survival

TINA HORN hosts and produces the long-running kink podcast Why Are People Into That?! She is also the creator and writer of the sci-fi sex-rebel comic book series SFSX (Safe Sex). Her reporting on sexual subcultures and politics has appeared in Rolling Stone, Hazlitt, Glamour, Jezebel, and elsewhere. She is a Lambda Literary Fellow, the recipient of two Feminist Porn Awards, and holds an MFA in Creative Nonfiction Writing from Sarah Lawrence.

BRIT SCHULTE (they/them) is a queer, non-binary femme educator, community organizer and zinester. Their current organizing efforts center criminalized survivors, prison/police abolition, and the destigmatization of sex work.

JESSIE SAGE is the co-host of the Peepshow Podcast and the co-founder of Peepshow Media. She is a sex worker, educator, and writer. Her articles have appeared in the Washington Post, Men’s Health, Hustler, VICE’s Motherboard, ZeroSpaces, Cyborgology and more. She has lectured on sex work politics and feminism at universities across the country.

HELLO ROOSTER is an intersectional feminist and a member and activist of the Sex Worker Advocacy and Resistance Movement. They are a nonbinary performer of color currently training as an intimacy coordinator. Hello Rooster has also been a panelist on labor rights and ethics, and is a cinematographer and a Feminist Porn Award winner.

ARABELLE RAPHAEL is an Iranian, Tunisian and French sex worker based in the United States. Arabelle has been in the sex industry for 11 years as well as creating art and writing based on their experiences within the industry. Their performances in pornography has earned them multiple AVN nomination and their directorial work earned them an AVN award as well as a Feminist Porn Award. They co-founded Bay Area Workers Support in 2018 and continue to provide resources and education to their community.

MAGGIE McMUFFIN has been getting naked for art and money since she was nineteen. In her spare time, she fights TERFs on Twitter and runs an Instagram for her cat. She is not only bisexual but bicoastal, and splits her time between New York and Seattle.

LORELEI LEE (they/she) is a writer, sex worker activist, organizer, Juris Doctor, Justice Catalyst Fellow, co-founder of the Disabled Sex Workers Coalition, and researcher with Hacking//Hustling. Their writing appears in n+1, The Establishment, , Denver Quarterly, The Feminist Porn Book, Coming Out Like a Porn Star, Hustling Verse, and elsewhere. Their book, ‘Anything of Value,’ looking at sex work through legal history, memoir, and cultural criticism, is anticipated from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt in 2023.

LAUREN KILEY works in the sex industries as a fetish porn performer, digital marketer, production assistant, and content manager. She has over a decade of experience organizing in sex working communities and is a founding member of Hookers Army. Lauren currently lives in Miami with her partner and pets.

JUNIPER FITZGERALD is a mother, writer, and (mostly) former sex worker in the Midwest. She has been part of the sex workers’ rights movement for fifteen years and the queer rights movement for almost thirty! Her children’s book, How Mamas Love Their Babies, was the first to feature a sex-working parent. Her auto-theory on sex work, motherhood, and carving out a queer identity in middle ‘merika (as well as her evergreen obsession with Gillian Anderson) is due out by Feminist Press in 2022. She holds a PhD in sociology.

CEYENNE DOROSHOW is a performer, activist, organizer, community-based researcher, and public figure in the trans and sex worker rights’ movements. She is the founder and executive director of Gays and Lesbians Living in a Transgender Society, and coauthored the Caribbean cookbook Cooking in Heels while incarcerated on prostitution charges.

ANTONIA CRANE is a writer, activist, sw and screenwriter. She’s the author of the memoir Spent (2014), which is coming out in France (2021). PRISM International magazine named Crane the grand prize winner of their 2019 creative nonfiction contest for her essay, “How to Dig a Ditch.” She’s written for: The New York Times, The Believer Playboy, Los Angeleno, Cosmopolitan, DAME, Quartz, Bustle and elsewhere. She teaches writing at UCLA Extension and can be found raising hell in Los Angeles with the Soldiers of Pole/Strippers United, a coalition of strippers fighting against workplace discrimination, racism and wage theft.

NORMA JEAN ALMODOVAR is a sex worker rights activist, retired sex worker, convicted felon inmate, candidate for Lt. Governor of California (1986), author of “Cop to Call GIrl” – chronicling her 10 years working for the LAPD and the consequences for exposing the corruption she witnessed there. She co-chaired and co- organized the 1997 International Conference on Prostitution with Cal State University Northridge, after which she and a male sex worker activist founded the first sex worker non profit organization in the US- ISWFACE (International Sex Worker Foundation for Art, Culture and Education). She currently maintains the website policeprostitutionandpolitics.com where she posts the stats on the actual number of cases of sex trafficking in her annual “Operation Do the Math.”
